[RP-7962] Comparative phylogenetics of Papilio butterfly wing shape and size - Research Project (2019 - Sep 2020)

Title
Comparative phylogenetics of Papilio butterfly wing shape and size
Short name
Papilio wings
Description
Comparative phylogenetics of Papilio butterfly wing shape and size demonstrates independent hindwing and forewing evolution. Team used standardized dorsal and ventral images of Papilio butterflies in the subgenera Agehana, Alexanoria, Chilasa, Heraclides, and Pterourus and transcribed associated label data through the Notes from Nature platform. We took geometric morphometric measurements from these images to investigate two hypotheses: 1) forewing shape and size evolve independently of hindwing shape and size, and 2) wing size evolves more quickly than wing shape.
